BUFFALO MICROCLIMATE
Buffalo microclimate: better thermal comfort for higher productivity
A well-managed microclimate means calmer, healthier, and more productive buffaloes, with improved fertility rates and more consistent milk quality throughout the year.

Barn ventilation: destratification fans
With Rota Guido solutions, the ideal microclimate is achieved through air destratification fans, which ensure uniform and constant air circulation.
The goal is to maintain an airspeed of 2–3 m/s in the animal area and temperatures 5–6 °C lower than outside during the most critical periods.
BUFFALOES
Thermoneutrality and heat sensitivity
Compared to dairy cows, buffaloes are more sensitive to high temperatures and humidity.
Their optimal thermal comfort range (thermoneutral zone) is between 18 °C and 28 °C, with relative humidity between 60% and 75%.
Above 30 °C (and THI > 72), they experience heat stress, reducing feed intake, rumination, and fertility.

Humidity management
Excessive humidity (above 80%) increases the risk of condensation, bacterial growth, and hoof infections.
It is essential to:
- ensure proper bedding drainage
- avoid water stagnation
- frequently remove manure
