The role of lighting in environmental control
A proper lighting system improves visibility during management and monitoring operations, promotes a uniform environment within the different departments and integrates with the other microclimate regulation systems.

Design criteria
The level of illumination is indicated by Legislative Decree 122/2011 (animal welfare standard) as 40 lux/sqm inside the pen. In the integrated design of pig farms, Rota Guido specifies the positioning of lighting fixtures within the building, paying particular attention to compliance with the above-mentioned regulation, which is in any case comfortably exceeded by the parameters applied in the design. For example, in a fattening unit, lighting is divided into two phases, inspection (80 lux/sqm) and operation (120 lux/sqm), with differentiated switching and zoning.

The environmental systems present on the farm operate in synergy through dedicated control units. Lighting fits into this concept of integrated management, helping to maintain environmental conditions that are functional and easy to manage.
